The Power of the Latino Vote
The 2006 Democratic Primary is over and there are a few trends that show the increasing clout that the Latino voter has in Texas.
Hidalgo and El Paso counties again led the state in turnout. Close to the top of the ticket, Maria Alvarado and Ernesto De Leon garnered 61.6 of the vote while Ben Grant received 38.4 percent. Alvardo the top vote getter faces Grant, a former state reprsentative and judge, in the runoff for Lt. Governor.
Looks like in any statewide race a Latino/Latina can pick anybody off. Imagine the possibilities if we actually ran a real campaign with a little bit of cash.
